Garden State

There’s a bit of work going on in the house lately and sometimes it pays to just clear off. Today the floors were being sanded. Down the hill, M’s got painters in, so we trundled into her car and headed south in to the fog. Destination? The Weyerhauser Bonsai Garden.

Who knew? What a gorgeous amazing place that is. Okay, there’s something kind of wierd about tiny trees on display but there is no denying the beauty of some of then. All these little trees are outside, displayed like sculpture on pedestels and the grounds are immaculate. While we were there pondering the tiny trees in the midst of giant trees in the midst of a the big tree product headquarters, the sun came out.

After that we headed to the Kubota Gardens. (That’s the current background photo.) Oh my. What a gorgeous place. And because we were there at 2pm on a Monday, it was pretty much empty. We saw two guys working there and two other people. Really, what a breathtaking site.

Fall is a really good time to stomp around outside.
