Lebkuchendorf = Gingerbread Village

Skis and poles from marzipan

For a reason that escapes me, the village of Spital Am Pyhrn decided it would be a good idea to replicate their village in gingerbread. While you may have all kinds of questions about their motivation, you can not for a moment discredit their magnificent delivery. I applaud this postmodern self referential installation! When you live in a village that looks as though it’s made of gingerbread, why not embrace the baked essence of your being!

And you, you with the graham crackers and the marshmallow creme and the gumdrops? Don’t quit your day job.

  1. I was a nanny many years ago and my charge and I made a gingerbread house around the holidays. She was six and loved it wanted to keep it after we took the decorations down. We stored it in the pantry….only to find it INFESTED with ants about a month later.

    The moral of this story….I love the replication. But for the love of Pete, toss your project in two weeks, people of the village!
