National Soup Swap Day: Success!

Soup Swap

Oh, sure a freezer full of soup is a good thing, a great thing even. But better still, the solidarity of our fellow soup makers across the nation who greeted our calls with “Hellooooooooooo Seattle!” We loved hearing about your soup, Genola, because it was so different than ours. Schenectady, we found your enthusiasm charming and infectious and we hope that you were able to sleep last night, so excited did you sound. We loved that in Long Beach, you were a swirl of kids and dining, we loved the martinis in Portland… it’s all starting to run together so let’s just sum up by saying again “SOUP=LOVE.”

We had a fairly low key and smallish swap with the founders here in Seattle. With only seven soups, our selections from the wholesome (vegan creamy roasted vegetable) to the exotic (Persian wishing soup with lamb and pine nut meatballs). We told soup in our hosts’ kitchen near Greenlake, drank a little Italian red, and got the hell out, as we do at Seattle Soup Swap.

We’re done for the season now, in fact, we’ve still got soup from the last swap that we’re working through. But the happy sharing of soup swap leaves us fortified for the six-eight weeks of winter left. And we’re already scheming ways to go international next year.

Again and for the last time, Happy National Soup Swap Day, soupsters!

Our soup swap pics are here.

  2. Couldn’t get it together this year (the whole brother’s surgery/hospital visits thing kinda sidetracked me)…but next year! Looks like a good time. And I have no doubt you’ll make it grow. 😉

  3. Oh, it’s international all right. Switzerland’s first soup swap (as far as I know) is gearing up for the 19th. I would LOVE some wish soup, it sounds so dreamy. 6 liters and no microwave 😉 Wish us luck. Cheers
