Travel on BlogHer

May 4, 2007 – 6:45 am | by nerd's eye view

Welcome to Nerd's Eye View. If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Want to know more about this site? See the Meet the Nerd page. And thanks for reading!

I’ve been doing some interviews for my travel posts over on BlogHer. A couple of days ago I talked with Ross Borden of Matador Travel - that’s here. And earlier in April I talked with Mary Sanderson from American Airlines about their new women-focused presence on the web. That’s here. I’ve got two more interviews scheduled with very different types of travel organizations. I hope you’ll check out my BlogHer posts from time to time. (Disclaimer: I get a stipend from BlogHer for my contributions.)

I’ve got a day job right now - I’m happy about that - and with the new house, travel isn’t on the cards in the immediate future (though I think there’s a road trip coming up…). Talking to people about travel and travel related issues doesn’t quite satisfy the wanderlust, though it’s been fun.

Speaking of BlogHer, to go or not to go? To go or not to go? It’s in Chicago (I’ve never been) in July (ick). Things are lively around Nerd’s Eye View lately. My tiny revenues do pay for hosting now, so the site is self-sustaining, at least. Is a blogging conference in my future and is BlogHer the one I want to attend?

Chicago is kinda hot in July, but it’s a good town. (And The Art Institute is a must-see.) Go check it out, I say. :-)

I agree. Chicago is good. And they have an unbelievable number of festivals in the summer…good for entertainment and good for people watching. There is nothing quite like sitting in Grant Park listening to the Chicago symphony for free with a bottle of wine and a pizza at sunset. Take LA. He’ll show you a good time.
