Let me make one thing perfectly clear: I have no pretense of being any GOOD at this. It’s just to show you that any @#$%*& can play the uke. Even me. I ain’t fishing for compliments, neither.

    The Flea, no?

If so, then you’ve taken me one step closer to parting with $150. Felix doesn’t sound nearly so warm.

BTW…nice finger-picking. I note that the Chordie page linked below didn’t specify any pickin’. Is there some pickin’ template you follow when playing off a chord chart? For example, pluck strings x and y of each chord?

So many questions, so little innate musical talent.

Keep grinnin’ while you’re pickin’, Nerd.

    Ayup, that’s Georges, the Flea.

There’s no template for picking that I know of. I noodle around with it until I find it. I added a G->Em transition, repeated a few times, and then pulled the picking out of that. Sometimes you can find uke tabs, but in this case, I just messed with it until I found it.

Wish you were here is such a sad song, isn’t it? I wish I had a friend who could add some very melancholy fiddle to it. Or maybe harmonica?

Did you know that the ukulele was one of George Harrison’s favorite instruments? Whenever he had his mates (who included Eric Clapton and Michael Palin) over, the ukuleles would come out as they sat around the table after dinner, and they’d play all night.

You sound good! Makes me want to get one now.

I’ve been working on this on the 8 string - Sal, you’re gonna blow a gasket when you hear what THAT sounds like.

    8-strings?

I’m envisioning a uke version of that ridiculous double-necked Gibson SG that Jimmy Page liked so much in the 1970’s.

Oh, how I hope that I’m wrong.

Sal (decided to buying a Flea, but undecided as to color)
