About that Starbuck’s Training

It’s about 930. I’m at the Starbuck’s on Madison, the one on the ground floor of the 1101 Madison building. I’ve stopped in to pick up a cup of coffee for my friend L. She’s up on the 10th floor stuck on an IV drip for many hours; I’d promised to visit and bring the mid-morning coffee break goods. I ask the barrista for L’s Americano and order a small green tea for myself. We go through the tea selections and then he holds up two different sized cups.

“We’ve got two smalls,” he says, “A small and a small.”

Laughter in the morning. A great wake-r-up-er. Thanks. So what did you decide; the small or the small?

:) I went with the small. It was, after all, what I’d asked for.
