Blog Administrivia: Twitter, Photrade, Divine Caroline, BlogHer 08

March 5, 2008 – 8:24 am | by nerd's eye view

Welcome to Nerd's Eye View. If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Want to know more about this site? See the Meet the Nerd page. And thanks for reading!

Today, few bloggy internety items. If you’re not interested in this stuff, hey, why not read something from the archives? Here’s a rambling and neurotic old post about applicances and expat identity. You expats will know exactly what I’m talking about.

The rest is below the fold.

  • I caved. I’m on Twitter. You can find me under “nerdseyeview” of course.
  • I’m on the “Blogger Advisory Board” for Photrade, a photo sharing site that intends to help photographers earn money with their photos. If you’re a blogger that uses photos or a photographer that uses blogs or some third thing, you could help Photrade out by taking their survey - and you might win an iPod. I love my iPod. Photrade is still in beta, so I’ll hold my editorializing about it until there’s a full release and you can see what the deal is. Well, not entirely - I’ll say this: as a person who takes a ton of photos and actually sells some of them, I’d be psyched to seen some income from my pics.
  • Divine Caroline contacted me to see if I’d be interested in a content partnership. They syndicate Nerd’s Eye View headlines out to their partner network and sell ads, I share ad revenue and publish travel stories on their site. The goal is traffic and hey, income from this site. I’m giving it a shot. You’ll see banner ads on the site sometime soon and a new link module under “Blogland.”
  • Speaking of BlogHer, I’ve proposed a panel on travelblogging for this year’s conference. No news yet on if it’s on, but I have high hopes. Stay tuned.

I’d been avoiding Photrade. I don’t know why…Twitter peep is involved…but I still avoid it. I’ll check it out (now that you’ve given the nod.) ;)

For the record, I can’t confirm or deny the efficacy of Photrade. I can tell you that I’m telling them what *I* want to see from Photrade and how it could work for me and that because I’m on the blogger board, that feedback seems to be listened to. Just FYI, .02, disclaimer, yadda yadda yadda.
