West Seattle Sunday

It will soon be one year since we left Capitol Hill for quieter, more affordable Gatewood. We still regret that our nearest walkable supermarket is the rather pricey Thriftway. We hope that some day, we’ll get the oft promised seldom delivered West Seattle Trader Joe’s. And most of all, we miss having our Capitol Hill friends close at hand. But we have grown oh so fond of our new neighborhood.

We especially enjoy a leisurely two mile stroll up to the Junction on Sunday where, at the Farmer’s Market, we can see beets from our ex-CSA or meet the biggest damn bunny we ever seen in our lives (a companion to the honey guy from Eagleman Farms, sorry, but does this make the furry friend a honey bunny?). We like stopping for treats at Verite or Bakery Nouveau, we like the bright spring colors that are offered as options at the West Seattle Nursery, and we get our visual fix at the art walk stops or just through the back streets and alleys of our neighborhood. Spring is coming and we are happy to be in West Seattle as it arrives.
