Birthday Wish List

For the record, I don’t expect you to give me  any of this stuff. It’s just that my birthday is coming and people are asking (Hi Mom!) what I want. Check back, I might add some more as I think of it. And oh, it’s January 4th, in case you’re wondering.

  • One of these armbands for the iPod that keep you from winging your pricey little gadget across the room when you get distracted or your mate unplugs the treadmill on accident. (I’ve got a classic iPod, just so you know.
  • Ever since I broke my telephoto in Bangkok, I’ve been wishing for one of those photo day packs with all the padding and supports to keep your camera safe. I like this one because it just looks like a pack, has a removable camera bag built in, and doesn’t scream “I’m hiding expensive photo gear! Steal me!” This one looks great too.
  • Speaking of camera stuff, I’d love a Nikon flash with a diffuser. More lenses are fun too;  I have a telephoto for the D200, I’d love something shorter.
  • A new desk. Okay, we’ve figured out exactly what will work in my office, we just haven’t made the trip to Ikea yet. Can you blame us?
  • Tree removal service. I’m sorry, but those hedges have got to go. Plant Amnesty, maybe? I love our house, but the Eisenhower era shrubbery is ridiculous and I haven’t the first clue what to do about it.
  • My feet are always cold. Therefore, it is impossible to have too many pairs of Smart Wool socks. Or gloves for that matter.
  • A new yoga mat. Mine has lost all of the magic that made it sticky. And as I try to re-acquire some of the magic that made me bendy, I miss the sticky.
  • A few more coffee mugs. Many of ours have gone on to new lives, ending their days way to soon, cracked and broken on the floor of the sink. Oh, it’s tragic.
  • A trip for two, all expenses included on the Palace on Wheels. What?! You asked what I wanted, didn’t you? The Deccan Odyssey would be freakin’ amazing too. As a second choice.
  • Oh, hell, just surprise me. You know what I like, right?

If you’re anything like me, just about any of this stuff would be a nice present to get yourself, too. Go on, get yourself something nice.

  1. Hey, maybe I should start working on my birthday list, eh? (January 27 for me).
Hope Mom finds your list and that you get a couple of nice surprises on your special day!

I love Smart Wool socks, too. Those and those cushy Life is Good sleep/slipper socks I wear at night.

  2. Happy Birthday (next week) Pam! All I have for you is happy wishes and some good karma. Not quite the same as a shiny new piece of consumer electronics, I know, but it’ll have to do.

  3. Ohh, ahh; Palace on Wheels looks very cool.

Here’s wishing you a happy birthday. I hope you get rum-kuglen and Cafe au Lait in bed on Sunday.

    Happy birthday, fellow Capricorn.
My b-day is Jan. 12. Just sayin.
