The Flip Flops burst out of obscurity for a few hours on Saturday afternoon to add a little more Aloha to the exhibit at the Wing Luke Asian Museum. The exhibit? It’s about the presence of native Hawaiians in the Pacific Northwest.
The Flip Flops are my “band” – and yes, those quotes are used very much ironically, in case you didn’t get that. We’re a rag tag band of ruffians… no, we’re a roughneck batch of vagabonds… no, we’re, well, we’re something, that’s for sure. Let’s call it ukulele obsessed and leave it at that. We played hapa-haole tunes with a few Hawaiian songs mixed in for good measure, because we can. Sort of. Some of us are Actual Musicians, others are, uh… um… we show up. Yeah, that’s it.
Left to right: Carel Neffenger (uke), Dan Schindler (uke), Pat Klopich (uke), Gregg Porter (bass), me (uke), Mike Dormann (drums).

As an official FlipFlops groupie, I say you guys did a great job. The vocalist on “Waikiki” was especially good.
When’s the next FlipFlops gig?
Pam – you are TOO much fun. I’m sorry I wasn’t in town for the performance!
My 2 year old is dancing like a crazy woman. I’d say you have a new fan.
Pam, I always appreciate you sharing these vids with those of us who don’t live close enough to see it firsthand. Aloha!
