The Duwamish Slough

The Duwamish Slough is a big messy place with a lot of interesting industrial activity. I go to work in a completely character free office park on the edge of the water – to get there I have to go over a drawbridge, across a lot of train tracks, between a crowd of semitrucks in various states of loading and unloading.

And in the water, there’s all kinds of things happening too. I watched a 60ish gent pull up in a battered blue van, the kind your drug dealer might drive if you were buying drugs in 1978, not that I would know anything about that.… continued…

I am nutty about aquariums, just nutty. One of my absolute favorite pastimes is looking at fish – I’d say I have a certain talent for the observation of marine life. “Oh! My! GOD! Will you LOOK AT THAT!” See, clearly, I’m a real life prodigy.

When our recent house guests suggested they might like to visit the recently remodeled Seattle Aquairum, I was just about giddy with excitement. Last time we were there was about a year ago, maybe a little longer.… continued…
