Buy the Extra Insurance, Already.

It’s like a horror movie for your wallet. Funny how you can barely see the damage in the video footage. The part of Kermit the Frog is played by Peter Carey, stunned passenger, Kelly Goodman.

  1. If you hire a vehicle, you could also purchase a personal car insurance from a different companies on the web.
I purchased mine for 350 dollars and is valid for all vehicle that I hire and is for 1 year! They will pay for everything including the excess insurance (covering the excess on collision damage)Hve a look on the web..I hope that could help you save some $.

  2. please tell me you had the extra insurance, or that BC travel folks paid the 4K. Or that you took a little rubber mallet and fixed it yourself for way the hell less than 4K.

  3. We DID have the extended insurance. BC tourism booked it when they reserved our rig. There’s a story there, but I feel like I need their permission to tell it. Let’s just say I’m not the first person they know that had a — um — mishap.

  4. Jeez, CDW coverage is usually the biggest ripoff out there…pure profit for the rental companies who sometimes charge as much or even more for the CDW on a basic car rental (often also $20 per day) than on the rental fee. Especially since it’s way easy to get CDW coverage on a credit card or via other way more reasonable insurance policies (check AAA or CAA for example). And usually the credit card policies don’t have a deductible but they are automatically void if you accept the rental companies insurance.

Of course, we’re talking a RV here so one would want to make very sure their coverage was valid for RVs. Also they vary on how international their coverage is.

  5. after a minor accident in New Zealand for which we only have the basic rental cover, we decided to take a CDW from a third company from the web which for $200 is covering us for a whole year worldwide. So far we haven’t any accident so I can’t really tell you if it worth it or not but at least we have a little extra peace on mind when driving.
