PR Chat: Kara Rosner, Diamond PR

I had an unexpectedly awesome time in Cancun on the Bloggers in Paradise tour put together by Diamond PR to promote a bunch of their tropical properties. My main contact prior to the trip was Kara Rosner, the VP at Diamond PR.

There’s always a bit of mystery around who gets invited on these trips and why. Last summer, when Peter, Kelly and I did the TBEX road trip, we had the opportunity to work with lots of supportive PR folks and many of them agreed to help our readers understand the answer to that question.… continued…

Giveaway: One Night at the Holiday Inn

In spite of the disappointing weather, we rather enjoyed our in town getaway at the Holiday Inn near the Space Needle. You can do this too, because the Holiday Inn wants to give you one night at one of their “refreshed” properties anywhere in the US.

Leave me a comment with the state and city where you’d like to stay — check out the Holiday Inn site for locations.… continued…

What We Ate

Country House, Toledo, Washington: “I want to stop at the EAT, you know the one? Plus, for ages, I have wanted to take a picture of that dilapidated ice cream cone thing. You know?”

We did stop at Country House, though, where I had Breakfast All Day and J had the meatloaf sandwich.… continued…

Hospitality and Outer Space

The long drive in bad visibility gave me a terrible headache, by the time we reached our destination, I had a full blown migraine. I went straight to bed with a cup of tea for dinner, only, and waited for it to pass.

Pass it did and about three hours later it had subsided to just your standard headache. It was late but I was awake and worried. While my head throbbed in the worst hours of the migraine, I drifted in and out of very short dreams and worried about abstractions.… continued…

Downtown Renovations

Coins

I’m fond of entropy, the sight of buildings decaying, old facades, rusting metal, or neon signs. When I first moved to Seattle, I used to ride my bike through the intersection where this renovation is taking place, past drug dealers and the needle exchange and a now and then a tent revival and a place where you could buy a vibrant purple suit with wide lapels and hey, why not go with the shiny two tone shoes, while you’re at it.… continued…
