Guest Post: The Healy in Ice

The USCGC Healy is a Coast Guard icebreaker designed as a science platform. It mostly operates in the Arctic and has reached the North Pole twice (2001 and 2005). It is currently being held over in Dutch Harbor to escort an emergency fuel shipment for Nome. Most crew members have been underway since May. My friend Sarah Kaye shot this photo while working on the Healy in Spring, 2011.
