We talked about skateboarding and salvaging materials and travel and Hawaii, specifically. When I called to set a date for the interview, he was standing at the Hilo Farmer&#8217;s Market, which was funny because I was there the following week, partly to do a story about shopping in Hilo.<\/p>\n<p>I took photos in Bill&#8217;s shop at <a href=\"http:\/\/ballardwoodworks.com\/\">Ballard Woodworks<\/a> &#8212; first on the landing where we sat and talked and had coffee, and then, down in his working space.
