If you live in the Pacific Northwest, you know that we’ve just come through more than 10 days of vile weather. Seattle has been at it’s absolute worst for the last two weeks, rainy, windy, and just above freezing. The sun seems to never come out. Yesterday, at about 3:30, I put on my big boots, my raincoat, got the big umbrella, and went out in to the squall. I couldn’t take it anymore. It was get outside or go to bed until March. I opted for getting outside.<\/p>\n

It was nasty as hell out but by the time I got home I was feeling at least more awake if nothing else. I called my friend L. “I want to kill myself. Is this weather ever going to end?” L. told me that his boyfriend had been calling him every half hour in about the same listless state. He was bored and had cabin fever and didn’t know what to do. “I should go hang out with HIM!” I said. But L. is smart as all get out. “Don’t you have, like, not enough to do? Don’t you have a jillion frequent flyer miles? You need to go to California or something. Get outta here!”<\/p>\n

After checking in with my good friends in Palo Alto that always host me and feed me, lord knows why, I booked my ticket. Plenty of frequent flyer miles and five You Ess dollars later I’m booked. Off I go. Weekend after next I’m off to California to see my art school friends and to meet Grace. Halle-freakin-lujah!<\/p>\n

As soon as I completed my reservation, the clouds thinned and right now, it still cold and windy, but it does not look like twilight, thank the sun gods and all that they bless! I do not have to get right back in to bed this minute. Whew. SAD<\/a> doesn’t even begin to describe what I’ve been going through here.<\/p>\n

There’s no guarantee that I’ll get sun in California, but the ten day forcast for Seattle is the same brutal sea of cloudy rainy day after cloudy rainy day. Even if it’s not sunny in California, I’ll be in the company of my most excellent friends. What could be sunnier than that?<\/p>\n
