I visited the island of Kauai on a recent press trip and on my free day, Kim Rogers (she writes the Outrigger Hotels<a title=\"View from Here\" href=\"http:\/\/www.outrigger.com\/explore\/hawaiian-islands\/view-from-here-blog\"> blog about Hawaii<\/a> and it&#8217;s terrific) took me to the <a title=\"Kawai'ele Wetlands\" href=\"http:\/\/pcjv.conservationregistry.org\/projects\/15531\">Kawai&#8217;ele Wetlands<\/a>, where we got shouted at by a pink legged stilt, admired the flowering yuccas,\u00a0 and found this dragonfly who looks as though she is made entirely of gold.<\/p>\n<p>And in case you&#8217;re wondering, shot handheld with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00728ZBA2\/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B00728ZBA2&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=neseyvi-20\">Panasonic Lumix<\/a>.<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=neseyvi-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B00728ZBA2\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It is awesome to have friends who will take you to weird little turnouts on the side of the road just so you can walk along a gravelly trail in search of a handful of birds.
