You read a recipe and it sounds okay, and you trust it because cookbooks have a certain amount of credibility to them. I should know better, after the *** efffing ***** book that I helped out as a test chef on:  just because it&#8217;s published doesn&#8217;t mean it&#8217;s any good.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.superluminal.com\/cookbook\/substantial_fish_stew.html\">This dish<\/a> was a total dud at our house. In principal, it should have been okay. I&#8217;m partial to a coconut milk curry and the ingredients weren&#8217;t so bizarre, but it was a complete and utter failure.  I didn&#8217;t expect it to win over Mr. NEV, but I did think I&#8217;d like it, and sometimes, he&#8217;s more amenable to new food than I give him credit for. Not this time, and rightfully so.<\/p>\n<p>Bleh, smeh, meh, eh, and other nonplussed expressions ending in eh.
