West Seattle Soup Swap!

“Please, Lord, let the other soups rock as hard as ours always does.”

Imagine my glee when an invite to a West Seattle Soup Swap landed in my inbox this morning! I was fearing that soup swap was not to be for me this year – we depart for the land of Pho the day before National Soup Swap Day. I was invited to a Portland swap, and the idea was grand, but with so much traveling on the docket and much to do before departing, the idea of a junket to Portland seemed undoable. No matter! There’s a soup swap just over there, a bit west of the Junction, and there I will be, happily swapping my soup with a group of unknowns – though the hostess is a fine chef and I’m excited to see what her guest list brings.

I flatter myself by thinking I’ll be something of a soup swap diplomat, as a long term swapper and member of the Founder’s Circle, but that’s complete nonsense, of course and doesn’t give any kind of credence to the quality of my soup. Self importance aside, I’m excited to attend this swap in my new neighborhood, to meet new soup lovers, and to stock my freezer with the fine cooking of others just prior to our departure. We’ll return home to a freezer full of soup made by new friends, what grander welcome home could there be!

If you’ve not yet been swept up in the soup swap frenzy, head on over to www.soupswap.com to learn how to have a swap, where other swaps are happening, and to share the soup swap love.  Get in touch with us via the Soup Swap blog to have your swap listed, okay?

  1. Have NEVER heard of this before. Am probably going to have to link to it because we were going to mention a few food notes today anyway. When done correctly, soup is nature’s perfect foood.

  2. Mmmmm. I’ve been making soup like crazy lately, but just for us. I kind of have the feeling that the idea (which is a GREAT one) of swapping soup would be met with many quizzical looks around here. Plus no one has a big enough freezer anyway.
