British Columbia, Here We Come.

It’s many months back that I got the pitch mail from BC Tourism. Camping is in, it said, or something like that, and BC is an awesome place to camp. I summarize, of course, they were considerably more poetic, as those pitching tourism are wont to be. The crux of the matter was this: Did I want to go camping in BC in a loaner RV? Did I ever!

I couldn’t make the summer round of BC Tourism sponsored trips, but I knew I’d have time come fall. I also knew that this time of year is a great time of year to make the switch to a camper. And bonus, my travel companions from earlier this summer were game — and honestly, so fun to travel with — that they were the first folks I thought of when finalizing the details of the trip.

So we’re off! We’re spending a week in BC! We’re island hopping up north and we’re living out of a loaner RV. None of us have driven a big rig before, and apparently, we’re picking up thirty feet of motorized living space tomorrow afternoon. Stick around, hijinks are sure to ensue.

Oh yes, B.C. is a most excellent place to camp. I spent much of my childhood in a soggy tent.

Have a wonderful time and please kiss the ground for me. :-)

Get a forestry map – (you can buy at most highway convenience stores) It lists all the campgrounds the forestry have built and some are in fantastic locations you wouldn’t find on a regular map.
