Giveaway: One Night at the Holiday Inn

In spite of the disappointing weather, we rather enjoyed our in town getaway at the Holiday Inn near the Space Needle. We ate chowder, watched the Looney Tunes marathon on Nickelodeon, wandered around the empty Pike Place Market, and in general, just enjoyed being some place else — sort of. You can do this too, because the Holiday Inn wants to give you one night at one of their “refreshed” properties anywhere in the US.

Leave me a comment with the state and city where you’d like to stay — check out the Holiday Inn site for locations. I don’t have any restrictions from the PR folks, but I’d assume that it’s based on availability, of course, and that there may be the random “some restrictions apply” rules. I’ll close comments on Wednesday morning, Jan 20th.

I’ll tell you again — we found our room to be clean, quiet, and the bed was super comfortable. Yes, I would stay there again and I’d recommend it to you if you were looking for an affordable Seattle hotel. But hey, leave a comment and maybe you’ll get to see for yourself.

  1. It sounds like you had a great time.

I’d love the opportunity to try a “staycation” (oh dear, is that word oh so 2009? what do I use in 2010?) where I live in Chicago. According to the Holiday Inn site, there are a number of locations in the area, though I’d prefer a stay at one of the locations in the city: Chicago – Mart Plaza (have always wondered what it’s like to have the historic and absolutely ginormous Merchandise Mart as your view) or Chicago – Downtown (within walking distance of Grant Park, the lakefront, and the museum campus).

Wish me luck, and thanks for sharing.

  2. Cedar Falls, IA – either the one by the University, or the one that’s Cedar Falls/Waterloo. I’d hope they have availability in late May, but that may be when the local University graduates its students.

  3. 2010 shows little prospect for far-flung travel. But we’d hate to go the full year with at least a short vacation break. We’ve settled on Blowing Rock, a couple hours’ drive from our home in North Carolina, for a long weekend later this year. Good to know that Holiday Inn (in this case Holiday Inn Express) has a venue there as well as in (very) nearby Boone. I’m keeping all fingers crossed for a free night. Thanks for the giveaway.

  4. Would love to visit my college student son in the beautiful town of Amherst,MA.

Always enoy reading your blog-thank you for sharing!

  5. Great post! I’m in Seattle as well and I’d love a rainy-day staycation at the same Holiday Inn you stayed at; right near the Needle. I’ve driven by it, and often wondered what it’s like inside. Could be fun!

  6. Brainerd/Baxter, MN, would be a perfect winter getaway for us. The Holiday Inn Express there has room for a family of six AND has an indoor waterpark. Fun for us all!

  7. I’d love to use the free night to visit my son at school at RIT up in Rochester, NY. Of course, I’d try to wait a bit until it warms up some. Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  8. Predictably, I like my lodging affordable yet comfy, and usually close to home. Downtown Seattle, in particular, is a hot destination for us lately thanks to the grandparents who are willing to sit with the baby at our West Seattle abode so we can occasionally drink wine like grownups and catch up on sleep just a few miles away. If the Holiday Inn has a comfortable bed and Nick at Nite on the tube, well then I’m in.

  9. An overnight in Portland, Oregon would be great for us. We’ve been talking about going back, since we haven’t spent much time there yet.

Any Holiday Inn downtown would be amazing.

  10. Holiday Inn DOWNTOWN DISNEY RESORT AREA
    1805 HOTEL PLAZA BLVD.
    LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL 32830

I will be great to extend my Disney convention by one night and get in more fun

  11. Throwing my name in the hat – for the Seattle location. So that I could move there after my one night in the fancy-pants hotel downtown for a longer stay in the Emerald City. 😉

(And I’m bringing a whole empty suitcase next time to fill up on ONE OF EVERYTHING from the Bakery Nouveau case. No kidding.)

  12. As tempting as it is to say Seattle, because I do love getting a hotel and being a tourist in my own home town, I’m foregoing the easy choice to say Portland. I’ve been wanting to take a train trip, and this could make the decision a little easier.
