More West Seattle New-to-Us

Cafe Rozella. Okay, not exactly our hood, but we had to run to White Center anyway. They have rather nice tea at Rozella, the coffee is good, and it’s next to a tool rental shop. Fun-kay. We like fun-kay.

Lincoln Park. In this morning’s warm rain, we wandered our very walkable new ‘hood. There’s a cool solstice marker on a ridge below us, then we drop through the Fauntleroy neighborhood into the park. The park is full of big trees and, if you are eating an apple, squirrels will rush towards you at crazy speeds. I’m not okay with the aggressive squirrels, but I’m pro big tree, and the whole place smells like rain forest. The views across the sound are gorgeous too. We didn’t drop all the way down to the beach because Mr. NEV is still recovering from an ankle wrench, but next time. Next time.

Garlic Jim’s. They just opened up on California. I got pizza from there because, hey, I was there. The pizza was fine. Nothing to write home about but fine. Convenient, yes siree. We need to do more research on where the best pizza in West Seattle is.

West Seattle Recycling. You take them that stuff you were going to take to the dump and they give you enough money to buy Pad Thai for two at a cheap joint on 15th and Roxbury. Yes to that. I won’t name the Pad Thai place; it wasn’t that great.

  1. Have you tried Abbondanza? They’re in the Fauntleroy/California Junction (across the street from Thriftway). Awesome pizza and pasta, and run by locals. The Greek place up the street (Kokoras) is pretty good too. Welcome to West Seattle!
