1. Drop dead handsome surfer type in shorts and a t-shirt. Perfect sandy blond hair, straight almost to his shoulders, that deep tan that shows he lives outside. He could be a fashion model. He’s on the sidewalk, not far from the statue of Duke Kahanamoku, pacing furiously, a bible in one hand, the other waving around in the air. He is shouting fire and brimstone into the street. Repent, you sinners leaving the ABC store!
2. A woman carrying a cat on a leash. At the beach.
3. Outside the Cheesecake Factory, there are dozens of people waiting for tables. Dozens. Maybe 50, maybe more.
4. Japanese girls wearing black tights. Or argyle tights. Underneath their shorts and mini-skirts. It’s 85 degrees and humid. They’re wearing tights.
5. Cheeseburger in Paradise.
6. Runners — all guys — who choose dinner hour and this crowded promenade for their workout. There’s a really nice park one mile that way.
